Bloblive was a blast!

As most of you who follow me know, I love to talk.  I can and will talk to almost anyone I come in contact with and even more than that, I love to hear new ideas.  I went to an event called bloblive put on by ideablob in Phildaelphia recently where people got to get up and share ideas that they had.  They ranged from food carts to community financed physicians and everything in between.  I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the presenters.  At this event, a good friend of mine spoke about her idea.

Gloria discussed the idea of "a la carte business assistant services".  These could include doing the books, sending emails or event running customer service duty when you're unavailable as an entrepreneur.  Check out her presentation below and her company at Red Stapler Consulting or her interview by Jonny Goldstein.

Nice presentation, and I agree that FON is the way to go. The nice thing about FON is that you don't need the endorsement of the big companies ... although I'm sure it violates some kind of acceptable use somewhere. FON should be hooking you up for evangelizing their technology.

Chris,
You're right. Taking it one step forward is having Comcast back it
allow it in their ToS and giving out FON routers instead of theirs.
Then the city can back a small number of extra routers in areas that
just can't afford it.

Jesse,
Councilman O'Neill is the head of City Council's committee on technology and the person who can make or break your idea. You should also try to talk with Councilman Rizzo. He was the biggest critic of wireless philadelphia. You can find some editorials written under his name in the inquirer.

Will, those are great ideas of people to talk to. I've met Councilman O'Neill before but I don't know him or Rizzo personally. I'll have to work on this. I also have spoken to some of the other players about this idea (the ISPs, businesses that could host APs, etc) and they are all positive about the idea.

Jesse,

Thanks so much for featuring me on your blog! There are so many brilliant minds in this city with so many great ideas. Best wishes to all of them.

It's well known that cash makes people disembarrass. But how to act if one doesn't have money? The only one way is to get the home loans or just secured loan.
